The attack on Sunday in Deir el-Balah, a central Gaza city, specifically targeted a vital community kitchen. Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary, reporting from Gaza City, confirmed that all three victims were charity workers. "This demonstrates that Israel is not merely striking individuals but is also targeting organizations providing essential services to communities throughout Gaza," Khoudary starkly observed.
Escalation of Gaza Attacks and International Silence
Hamas swiftly condemned the assault, labelling it a "deliberate war crime" and an "ongoing genocide" against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The armed group’s statement decried "unjustified international silence and inaction," which, it argued, emboldens the occupation to perpetuate its massacres with utter disregard for global values, norms, and laws. According to data from Gaza’s Health Ministry, released on Sunday, the conflict initiated on October 7, 2023, has resulted in the deaths of at least 72,760 Palestinians.
